Who We Are
The Texas Turnaround Center (TTC) is part of a state-wide system of 20 regional Education Service Centers (ESCs) created by the Texas Legislature. The TTC is dedicated to establishing and supporting a state-wide regional network of highly trained turnaround teams. These regional ESC teams provide technical assistance to districts and campuses identified as under-performing in the state’s accountability rating system. Overall, the TTC’s objective is to reduce the number of campuses rated low-performing by enhancing capacity statewide for supporting comprehensive, ongoing improvement of under-performing schools.
The TTC is grant funded though TEA’s Division of Program Monitoring and Interventions.
What We Do
The TTC provides training, technical assistance, tools and resources directly to ESC turnaround teams to enhance their capacity to provide technical assistance for school improvement. This includes:
- Coordinating semi-annual network and support meetings
- Facilitating periodic webinar presentations by national experts and local practitioners
- Coordinating symposiums on timely education topics
- Providing research-based trainer of trainer materials
- Maintaining a website with current tools and resources on issues pertinent to school turnaround
Why We Do What We Do
The TTC uses the strength, expertise and geographic proximity of our network of regional teams to more effectively and strategically provide statewide support to district and campus improvement. Each regional turnaround team’s goal is to provide low-performing districts and campuses the technical support and resources needed to quickly, efficiently and effectively initiate and sustain improved student performance.
